Building a Brighter Future in Nigeria
The Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ in Nigeria remain steadfast in their call to serve those most in need. In the spirit of Saint Katharina Kasper, the Sisters accompany the poor, the sick, children, youth, and families who are often overlooked or underserved. Their ministries span education, healthcare, pastoral care, and social outreach, providing services through schools, hospitals, home visits, and the Angel Guardian Home for vulnerable and abandoned children.
One critical area of focus is access to education. At the PHJC Nursery, Primary, and Secondary School in Azhi Kasa, and at Gijoa Nursery, Primary, and Secondary Schools, students from low-income farming communities are given the chance to pursue quality education through scholarships and compassionate support. These families work tirelessly to provide for their children, yet many still struggle to meet the costs of tuition. Without assistance, some children are forced to drop out of school, limiting their opportunities and potential.
The Sisters are also fostering long-term sustainability through the Garam Community Farm, where they grow crops for both consumption and sale. This large-scale farming initiative is not only a source of nourishment and income, it reflects the community’s dedication to building a self-sustaining future.
Your gift helps restore hope and dignity for children and families across Nigeria. By supporting education, health, and livelihood programs, you become part of a mission that transforms lives with love, compassion, and the enduring presence of faith.
