Moved by God’s Spirit
175 Years of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ
For 175 years, women inspired by the Gospel and the charism of Saint Katharina Kasper have served with humility, attentiveness, and compassion across the world. From a small village in Germany to communities on five continents, in nine countries the Spirit continues to move us toward those most in need. This anniversary is not only a remembrance of the past. It is an invitation to walk with us into the future.
ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS
The 175th anniversary year offers opportunities for prayer, reflection, learning, and celebration across the global community.
NINE COUNTRIES. FIVE CONTINENTS. ONE COMMUNITY. 175 YEARS STRONG.

We invite you to participate, wherever you are.
CELEBRATING OUR IMPACT
Across cultures, languages, and generations, the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ have lived a mission rooted in service, community, and faith. Our ministries respond to human need wherever it is found, nurturing dignity, healing, education, and hope.

OUR MISSION TODAY
The Spirit that moved our foundress in 1851 continues to guide our mission in the present moment. Today, the Poor Handmaids serve through education, health care, spiritual formation, ecological stewardship, and social outreach.
Grounded in prayer and community, we seek to be a presence of hope in a world longing for justice, healing, and peace.
KEY MILESTONES
From our foundation in Dernbach, Germany, to ministries across the globe, each generation has carried the mission forward with faith.
