Moved by God’s Spirit

175 Years of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ

For 175 years, women inspired by the Gospel and the charism of Saint Katharina Kasper have served with humility, attentiveness, and compassion across the world. From a small village in Germany to communities on five continents, in nine countries the Spirit continues to move us toward those most in need. This anniversary is not only a remembrance of the past. It is an invitation to walk with us into the future.

CELEBRATING OUR IMPACT

Across cultures, languages, and generations, the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ have lived a mission rooted in service, community, and faith. Our ministries respond to human need wherever it is found, nurturing dignity, healing, education, and hope.

OUR MISSION TODAY

The Spirit that moved our foundress in 1851 continues to guide our mission in the present moment. Today, the Poor Handmaids serve through education, health care, spiritual formation, ecological stewardship, and social outreach.

Grounded in prayer and community, we seek to be a presence of hope in a world longing for justice, healing, and peace.
