HANDEL'S
MESSIAH

Welcome to a Night of Music, Reverence, and Community

Step into the resplendent beauty of the Ancilla Domini Chapel—a sacred space filled with awe-inspiring Gothic architecture, radiant German-crafted stained-glass windows, and centuries of prayerful presence. Nestled in the heart of Donaldson, this chapel provides the perfect backdrop for one of the most profound musical compositions ever written: Handel’s Messiah.

Messiah, composed by George Frideric Handel in just 24 days in the year 1741, is a timeless oratorio that has captivated audiences for nearly three centuries. Drawing its libretto entirely from scripture, Messiah offers a powerful retelling of the life of Christ—from the prophecies of His coming, to His birth, suffering, resurrection, and ultimate triumph. The piece is structured in three parts, each unfolding like a sacred journey through some of the most profound truths of the Christian faith.

Perhaps most famously, the “Hallelujah Chorus” stands as a triumphant moment of exultation and praise—so moving that it is said King George II stood during its performance, a tradition that continues today. With its sweeping orchestration, intricate vocal arrangements, and theological richness, Messiah is more than a concert—it is a spiritual encounter that continues to inspire awe, reflection, and renewal in all who experience it.

Whether this is your first time or a cherished tradition, we invite you to immerse yourself in an evening of transcendent music and heartfelt celebration performed by the Ancilla Domini Community Choir and Orchestra, featuring professional soloists and local talent.
