Sister Mary Dolores Greifer, PHJC, formerly known as Sister Xavier, passed away on February 12, 2010 at the Catherine Kasper Home, Donaldson, Indiana. Mary Dolores Greifer was born to George and Odelia (Besling) Greifer on October 2, 1918 in Quincy, Illinois. She entered the Poor Handmaid of Jesus Christ community and professed her first vows on June 25, 1939.

Sister Mary Dolores began her ministry in education in 1939, teaching in various schools in Breese, Edwardsville, Quincy, Trenton and Wendelin, Illinois; East Chicago, Fort Wayne and Donaldson, Indiana; New Ulm, Minnesota and Tougaloo, Misissippi. In 1966 she began her 33-year ministry at Ancilla College as a professor of English. Sister Mary Dolores was well known for her interest and care in helping students achieve personal, spiritual and academic success. She created the Ancilla College Alumni Association as an effort to keep students connected with each other and the college after graduating.

Sister Mary Dolores retired to the Catherine Kasper Home in 2004. May she rest in peace!
