Called by our commitment to fostering Gospel values, we Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ of the American Province stand in solidarity with our sisters and brothers of Ukraine who are facing the unprovoked terrors of war. While the majority of the world works to embrace Laudato Si’ (On Care for Our Common Home) and Fratelli Tutti (On Fraternity and Social Friendship), Russian leaders seek only power through greed and malice.

We pray for all working to negotiate a swift end to Russia’s illegal invasion and horrific violation of human rights. We lift up all who have already or will lose their lives, face serious injuries or trauma, or are caring for them. May safe harbor and appropriate resources be made available in their aid.

We pray especially that all nations will come together and stand with the people of Ukraine in an effort to bring about a more just, peaceful and compassionate world.
